Most trainers have found themselves in the role more or less by accident. Often people are “drafted” into the job of training because they have become knowledgeable about particular subjects or proficient in particular skills. Sometimes people are selected to be trainers because they can express thoughts clearly and can appear comfortable when speaking to groups. On some occasions people are assigned to responsibility of training because of their enthusiasm or their warm personalities. On still other occasions people are asked to assume the role of trainer as a necessary step in their career paths. Finally, some people are find themselves in front of groups simply because they were the only ones available who were willing to do the job.

Fredric Margolis and Chip Bell

The Accidental Trainer site is a FREE resource serving a community of individuals who have “accidentally” become trainers. Our community members include one-person training departments, HR folks with training responsibilities, subject matter experts, and managers who are the only provider of training for their workers. They come from companies big and small. Please join us!

We strive to assist each of these groups to NOT have to recreate the wheel. There are many individuals out there in corporate America (and the world) who are all tackling the same challenges and trying to come up with the right solution - all on their own.

By providing a forum and a means of communicating with one another we hope to assist you in doing YOUR job better, faster and cheaper!

To support our members we offer:

Our Monthly Ezine
Is a forum allowing our members to communicate with one another. By posting requests for information and solutions to others needs, we make the world a little smaller. On a monthly basis you'll receive tips on instructional design, presentation skills, technology and anything else that might impact the OPTD's work on a daily basis - all from people who are in the same situation as you. They figured it out so you don't have to.

I wanted to share how much I enjoy the Teleseminars sponsored by OPTD. They are very informative, well facilitated, and I enjoy the opportunity to ask questions and benefit from other's questions. I've shared your website with many trainers I network with!
